Dal Tadka
Everyday dal tadka using 5 Nandi spices. Comfort food at its finest, with a smoky tempering of garlic, cumin, and Nandi Hing. Toor dal cooked with Nandi Turmeric, tempered with Nandi Red Chilli and Nandi Coriander Powder.
Ingredients
- Toor dal (1 cup)
- Nandi Turmeric Powder (1/2 tsp)
- Nandi Red Chilli Powder (1/2 tsp)
- Nandi Coriander Powder (1 tsp)
- Nandi Hing Powder (a pinch)
- Nandi Rock Salt to taste
- Garlic (3 cloves)
- Cumin seeds (1 tsp)
- Onion (1, chopped)
- Tomato (1, chopped)
- Ghee (2 tbsp)
Steps
- Pressure cook toor dal with Nandi Turmeric Powder and water for 3 whistles.
- Heat ghee. Add cumin, Nandi Hing, garlic and onion. Saute until golden.
- Add tomato, Nandi Red Chilli and Nandi Coriander Powder. Cook till soft.
- Pour this tempering over the cooked dal. Simmer 5 minutes. Garnish with coriander.
Kitchen Tips
Use Nandi Hing in hot ghee for maximum aroma. Mash dal for creamier consistency. For restaurant-style, add a butter tadka on top.
